. . . a knitter & spinner's journey

Boo!

Just a quick post today. The only knitting I’ve done is on the booga bag so go look at the picture in the last post and imagine another few inches added on to that.

Last night when I came upstairs to go to bed, I was greeted by this view out my front window. My crazy neighbors across the street spelled Boo! out of orange lights in the bushes in front of their house. It’s not even October yet people! (Alright, it will be in what, four days.) They can’t even wait until the month of the holiday to decorate. I bet as soon as Halloween is over they will have their Christmas lights up and on. Now I’m all for putting the lights up early here in Michigan. My motto is do it while it’s still somewhat warm and you’re not freezing your fingers off but I won’t turn them on until at least December. Nothing like rushing the holidays. And poor Thanksgiving just gets lost there between Halloween and Christmas. At the rate we’re going, we’ll soon celebrate Halloween in June and Christmas in August.

Oh and before I forget, Happy New Year!

My neighbors across the street left their Christmas lights up until March. I finally called the homeowners association on them. So tacky!

And Happy Easter to boot. Personally, I think it’s a subtle ploy by the electricity companies to push our energy consumption up as soon as the air conditioners get turned off…

Happy labour day!

I like the bush lights… but they’re a bit off season. Think they’d be best in April. Tax season, you know.

oh yes, here in chicago is the same deal..my dad and i have a tradition of putting up the lights thanksgiving morn, while the turkey is cooking. but some years it gets colder before then. so we put them up when it’s still warm enough to not need to wear gloves, but don’t turn them on til december
